How to Integrate StickChart with Google Workspace (Gmail)
Published on - 2021-10-14
StickChart users can have one mailbox integrated with their accounts at a time; either a mailbox from Microsoft 365 or one from Google Workspace (Gmail).
Why Should I Connect my Gmail?
In order to be able to send and receive emails to/from your B2B partners (we call them Connections), you simply need to grant authorization to your Gmail account. Once this is done, you can use the StickChart platform to communicate with your Connections via:
- SMS (assuming you have followed the SMS Integration steps)
- StickChart Messaging (requires your Connections also be on the platform)
All of this messaging is consolidated together for you in a modern, and easy-to-use interface. This allows you to easily find what you are looking for and focus more on taking care of your customers!
Is this Secure, and How Does it Work?
Absolutely! We at StickChart take your privacy and digital security VERY seriously.
For this to work, we simply require that you grant permissions to your Google mailbox before anything can be done (see more about this below, in the section focused on how to connect) . Once you have given your consent for StickChart to access your Gmail, we act like an Inbox that pulls in only those critical mails that are important to you and your Connections. At any point in time, you have the ability to remove the integration which tells us to stop accessing your mailbox. And if any problems arise with connecting to your mailbox, we will let you know through StickChart Notifications and guide you through resolving those issues.
We do not store the password for your Google account, we only store a secure token that is issued when you have granted consent. This token is what enables the StickChart platform to access your mailbox to send and receive emails. In the event you ever do decide to remove the integration, that token is destroyed immediately .
What Google Permissions do you Require?
Currently, the only permissions needed for your Google account:
- Read, compose, and send emails from your Gmail account
- See your primary Google Account email address
StickChart's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Ok, now how do I Connect to my Gmail?
You will be prompted as part of your initial onboarding to the StickChart platform, and the steps there are the same. However, you can always access your Integrations from your Profile page.
On your profile page, simply click the Add Integration option in the Email section.
Now you'll be prompted to select your email provider, be sure to select the Google Workspace (Gmail) option:
You'll be prompted to login to your Google Account if you aren't already, once logged in you will then be presented the screens to grant consent to your mailbox. Just click Continue to finish up the process.
Once that is done, you will be returned to your profile screen but you will now notice that your account shows you are successfully integrated with Google!
That's it!
You can now begin sending emails to your Connections from StickChart. Those emails will be sent as your Gmail mailbox (messages show up in your Sent Items in Gmail), and when your Connections reply to those emails sent from StickChart, we will pick up the message and bring it into your StickChart conversation.
